The best perfumes for Autumn and Winter 2018

By  |

I recently watched a South Korean TV show called “My ID is Gangnam Beauty”, about a girl, Mi-rea Kang, who has been bullied for years about her appearance. The aspiring perfumer decides to get plastic surgery before starting college so she can finally be accepted. But the bullying does not stop.

She eventually meets a kind woman who helps her to gain more self-confidence and teaches her that, “Beauty is not about the appearance, it can be invisible like perfume.”

The perfume that Mi-rea wore is Atelier Cologne’s Pomélo Paradis, representing her strong-minded and energetic character. Its star ingredients are Pomelo from Florida, Mandarin from Italy, and Vetiver from Haiti. This is a light, fresh and citrus cologne.

Open notes: Pink Grapefruit, Calabrian Mandarin and Blackcurrant

Middle notes: Orange blossom, Bulgarian rose and Mint

Base notes: Amber, Vetiver and Iris

Price: £55-£145, available at John Lewis

Other perfumes I recommend include:

Jo Malone English Pear & Freesia Cologne

This scent blends perfectly the ripeness of pears with the fresh delicate scent of white freesia flowers. This is a very wearable perfume, ideal for Autumn days.

Open notes: King William Pear

Middle notes: Freesia

Base notes: Patchouli

Price: £47-£94

Serge Lutens La fille de Berlin

If you prefer scents with stronger notes, you will like this one. People who wear this perfume are rebellious, bold, and aren’t scared of failure. This scent will give you the courage to face winter knowing that spring won’t be too far away.

Open notes: Rose, Geranium and Black Pepper

Middle notes: Palmarosa

Base notes: Patchouli, Moss and Honey

Price: £99-£144, available at

Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium

Want to know how to feel sexy during winter? Wearing the irresistible Black Opium by Yves Saint Laurent may be the answer. It’s the Monica Belluci of perfume. This addictive fragrance has an undeniable mysterious charm.

Top Notes: Black Coffee Accord, Mandarin and Bergamot

Heart Notes: Orange Blossom, Tuberose, and Jasmine sambac

Base Notes: White Musk, Vanilla Beans and Cashmeran

Price: £52-£132

That’s all my recommendations, I hope you all enjoyed it!
