Friday night in Sheffield and five piece indie rock band from Bristol, Coasts, played a sold out show in a fairy light lit room of The Leadmill. Chris Caines, David Goulbourn, James Gamage, Liam Willford and Ben Street formed the band in 2011 after meeting at university and have gone from strength to strength ever since.

Following a North American tour a long list of summer festivals, including the legendary Glastonbury festival, they are touring the UK once again. Their eagerly awaited self-titled debut album drops in January 2016 and after the impressive show the band put on, we can’t wait.

Following a great introduction from supporting acts Casey Lowry, Dive In and One Hunna, Coasts took the stage to perform a mix of their well-known material, as well as some brand new tracks.

The boys opened with Wallow and were greeted by an excited audience. After playing a few popular tunes such as Your Soul and Modern Love, the band showcased their new single You, which was well-received by the audience.

Once the crowd were buzzing, frontman Chris excitedly introduced one of their new songs, Tonight, which will feature on EA Sports’ FIFA 16, a game that has always been well-renowned for its great soundtracks. The song got the crowd jumping with its catchy melodies and Bombay Bicycle Club-esque riffs.

Moving back to some of their more popular tracks from their first couple of EPs, the band closed with ‘A Rush of Blood’ and the anthemic track ‘Oceans’, which got everyone on their feet and singing along.

After an energetic hour-long set, the band promised to return to Sheffield soon. They are definitely a live act not to be missed.
