Music that is bound to get you out of the winter rut

By  |

It’s the end of winter, but it isn’t quite spring and you can’t seem to get yourself out of that miserable mind set that comes with the lack of vitamin D. Am I right?

While we are (un)patiently waiting for the sun to make an appearance, one sure fire way to lift your spirits is through music.

As music student I’m really interested in the positive affects of listening to music, and how it changes our mood. Research has shown that when you listen to music your brain releases dopamine, (a ‘feel-good’ hormone), and studies have also shown that music also lowers the stress hormone, cortisol. If that’s not enough to convince you to get some good tunes on, then I don’t know what is.

Some people love taking the time to compile a playlist of feel-good songs, and if you’re one of them I highly recommend spending a couple of hours listening to some music and making your perfect playlist.

However, for those of you who aren’t so keen on spending your afternoon scrolling through Spotify, I’ve done it for you. (You’re welcome).
