How to style your denim favourites

By  |

Denim is a staple fabric which always features in our everyday outfits. Whether it be in the form of jeans, a skirt or a dress, it is important to know how to style it. Here are our top tips on how to style three of our denim favourites.

Straight Leg Jeans

Straight leg jeans are making a comeback in 2020 and sometimes it can be difficult to know how to style them. Darker denim looks great with a pair of trainers – these could be high top Converse, platform Vans or a white chunky trainer. Lighter denim looks better when paired with a dressier shoe. Depending on your style, this could be a pair of loafers, Doc Martens or anything in between. My personal favourite is a pair of light-wash straight leg jeans with light pink loafers – it’s the perfect combination for the transition to spring.

Colourful Denim Skirts

Denim skirts are essential for summer nights out. They can be the focal point of your outfit if you like to experiment with bold colours. By dressing a colourful skirt with a minimalist top and shoes, it is guaranteed to stand out. Personally, I love wearing my fuchsia pink denim skirt during the summer months. If you were planning to wear one on a night out, why not dress it up with black lace up heels, or slip on some heeled mules. If you plan on wearing one during the day, a square neck top and a pair of chunky trainers would be a perfect look.

Bodycon Denim Dresses

A bodycon denim dress with a sweetheart neckline and thin straps is a must for your spring-summer wardrobe. While the temperature is still cool in the springtime, a thin neutral jumper is great to throw on underneath. If you would prefer something dressier, a patterned blouse would work well – try whichever print works best for you. My favourites are floral and polka dot. When the summer months are upon us, you won’t need to wear a top beneath the dress.

With everything going on at the moment, why don’t you practise styling your favourite denim pieces before you can wear them out in a couple of months – or you may want to show them off on social media. Take this time to find a love for styling your wardrobe favourites.
