Herbs and spice.. All things nice!

Herbs and spice.. All things nice!

A few weeks ago I was walking through Crookes on my way back from a friend’s house. I stumbled across ‘Sheffield Skincare Co’ – the rustic decor and bright blue paint drew me in straight away. Did I mention the smell floating out of the shop? Rosemary, citrus and rose– delicious!

So of course, I had to go in.

Inside the shop is like a treasure chest. Full of balms, essential oils, masks, candles, soaps, herbs and general treats. I was greeted by the super-friendly owner, Megan who answered all my skin care questions – it turns out she studied herbalism and aromatherapy so was quite the expert. After discussing large pores, apple cider vinegar and epsom salts, I browsed the shop and was suprised about how many inventive soap variations there was. They also have soap that looks – and smells like cake! (But you can’t eat them, sorry).

All products are named following a Sheffield theme and some of the names were inventive to say the least… ‘Steeley looks’ and ‘Wash thi face,’ I’m talking about you.

I picked up ‘All the Saints’ face balm, for congested skin and I am really loving the results so far. It is a luxurious moisturising balm which makes taking the day off so much more enjoyable. Much nicer than Liz Earle’s Hot Cloth Cleanser, in my opinion, and sustainable too. It smells incredible, isn’t harsh on my skin and helps balance my oil production.

Suffering with problem skin , I loved that I could browse confidently knowing everything is free from preservatives, alcohol (SO drying), petroleum derivatives and synthetic fragrances and colours.

The soaps and face products make for the perfect present with all natural, hand-made ingredients and they are presented so beautifully. This certainly makes the expensive Boots dash less desirable.

All of her products have that personal touch, making for a thoughtful gift. Buying from local independent shops feels that-extra-bit nicer too. The perfect Christmas gift-spo!
