November Fashion It Girl: Victoria Beckham

By  |

The Posh Spice, the original WAG, Victoria Caroline Beckham was born in Essex in a wealthy family 42 years ago. Starting with a singing career, she quickly went up the stairs of fame becoming an internationally recognized designer. Whilst doing great in her career, Victoria is also the wife of David Beckham and the mother of Harper, Romeo, Cruz and Brooklyn.

In the late 1990s the star became part of the Spice Girls group which took over the world with pop songs. Even back then, Victoria was seen as a fashion influence and was soon nicknamed The Posh Spice.

Miss Beckham shifted from the entertainment platform to an environment which was going to mark her designer life significantly. After the separation of the Spice Girls and trying out acting, Victoria found her calling in the fashion industry. She started as a model and walked her first show in 2000 at London Fashion Week. The model wore Maria Grachvogel signed pieces, which she declared she loved.

After a successful debut in fashion, Victoria moved to being an ambassador for Dolce and Gabbana and further collaborations with Rocawear in 2003. The audience welcomed her and embraced her style. Everyone knew Victoria now and it wasn’t long until she was going to start designing.

The young icon met David Beckham in Manchester and as she adds in her letter for Vogue it was “love at first sight”, although the details are hazy. “While the other football players stand at the bar drinking with their mates, you will see David standing aside with his family. (He’s not even in the first team at this stage – you are the famous one.) And he has such a cute smile. You, too, are close to your family, and you will think how similar he feels to you. He’s going to ask for your number. (He still has the London-to-Manchester plane ticket on which you wrote it.)”

As she adds in the letter she recognizes herself as a free spirit who always loved to explore and play with clothes. Although her choices now are far different from decades ago, Victoria is the same, but more mature and sophisticated. She developed a passion for sunglasses and switched from heels to Stan Smiths. Victoria embraced the grown-up life and reflected that in her collections.

In 2011, the woman who once made capital fashion mistakes won Designer Brand of the Year at the British Fashion Awards. Her name and label expanded and promoted a sense of feminity and elegance. She surprises everyone with her off-duty looks which always strike the fashion websites. Holding on to her personal style the mum seems to make up for her past wrongs and look more fashionable than ever.

After eight years from the launch of her brand, Victoria Beckham has become one of the most known fashion icons in the world and an ultimate IT GIRL. Her collections are shifting from casual chic to subtle elegance, allowing women to feel and look good in what they wear. As stated before, she’s trying to combine comfort with luxury looks. Some of the most recent collaborations name VB x Estee Lauder, in which Victoria created a set of products designed to suit all women.

Starting with 9 April, the Beckham name can be seen at Target through her newest partnership: womenswear and childrenswear. The collection will range from dresses to casual outfits and will have affordable prices.

A while ago, Victoria said that she’s intending to grow and build an empire. Today, owning over two successful brands and partnering with the most influential names it’s safe to say that the fashion icon has reached her goal. Yet we all know how ambitious and present she can be. We’re sure to keep an eye of this month’s IT girl..
