AW15: How to get the look

By  |

Summer is over and Autumn is upon us. We’ve packed up our swimwear, invested in copious amounts of knitwear and are chugging down all the Pumpkin Spiced Lattes we can get our hands on. Like the leaves changing colour, another inevitable fact of Autumn is that the Berry lip is back and better than ever. With this in mind, I decided to do my take on the AW15 look.

Step one: Base coat

To start with I used the MALIN and GOETZ vitamin e face moisturizer; a crucial step as the bitter cold can take its toll on your skin. I then used my Sephora PRO Airbrush foundation brush to buff Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet all over, giving a matte yet not heavy coverage. Then it’s time for concealer, I find Clarins Instant Concealer helps to brighten under the eyes giving a healthy glow to the skin.

Step two: Eyes

I thought I would go lighter on the eyes and what really is in for this season is ‘pinky-peach’ tones. With that in mind, after applying a base of MAC ‘Soft Ochre’ Paint Pot, I took to my NARS-issist palette and used the pale off white shade all over and then the pink toned shade across the outer half of the lid. Then I took another Nars shade this time from their limited edition Christopher Kane collection in the shade ‘Outer Limits’ and applied it in the crease.

Done with shadow onto Liner. With Liner’s I don’t tend to experiment much, so I used my tried and tested Rimmel London Glam Eyes professional Liquid Liner, no flick as I wanted to keep the eyes pretty basic, just to thicken the lash line. Mascara now, Lancôme Grandiose , one of the wierdiest Mascara wands I’ve seen but does an amazing job in layering on the volume and length to make the eyes really pop.

Step three: Cheeks

I used Kevin Aucion’s Celestial Bronzing Veil in ‘Tropical Days’ as a light contour and MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in ‘Soft and Gentle’ to provide my skin with a warm glow. I then proceeded to use Nars ‘Seduction’ blusher to add a small pop of colour.

Step four: Lips
This AW15 crowning moment is the dark berry lip. Now there were many options to choose from; Rimmel London Apocalips in ‘Eclipse’ would be a great choice if you wanted a glossier finish, Nars Audacious Lipstick in ‘Janet’ for those who like to be a little bit more out there, but the full-on Berry lip which I always go back to without fail is MAC ‘Diva’. Great staying power, a beautiful finish and channels those vampy vibes effortlessly.
