Autumnal Layering

By  |

When autumn rolls around, I always get excited about layering up. Chilly weather is the perfect excuse to wrap up warm in coats hats and scarfs, and at Liberty Belle we are here to show you how to dress practically but with style. So how can you throw on those extra garments and still nail the A/W style? I’ve picked out my three favourite pieces below.

The roll neck

There are lots of ways you can wear this trend by layering up and keeping warm. Team chunky knits with skinny jeans, tuck slinky polo’s into A-line skirts and wear under dresses and capes. Here is some inspiration on how to layer this versatile piece. Whether you refer to it as the roll neck, polo neck or turtle neck, these jumpers are autumn’s biggest micro trend and an absolute essential for your wardrobe. The best way to layer this trend is keep a minimalist style in mind by choosing neutral colours and not over-accessorising.

Dungarees have made their mark on the high street scene this season, and they are a great way to layer up for warmth this autumn. Key styles are black corduroy and classic blue denim, which look best thrown casually over a striped jumper and paired with some classic trainers. This is a great look for those laidback days when you want comfort but with some urban flair.

The cape

The cape is hands down this season’s hottest coat shape. It’s been seen on catwalks and now fashion magazines are going crazy for the effortlessly chic cape. On chilly autumn mornings when leaving your duvet behind is a chore, the cape is there to make a fashionable replacement, as it’s a comfortable blanket disguised as a coat. There are many different styles to choose from as well, whether it’s a classic black, a more fitted number or a full blown poncho.

The blanket coat can be layered over almost anything but looks great with fitted trousers, to balance out your silhouette. You could use this to play with new season denim and statement accessories.
