Alexa Chung inspired beauty

By  |

Alexa Chung has long been admired for her iconic fashion and beauty looks. She is renowned for her coveted winged eyeliner, and effortless chic look. We’ve comprised our top tricks to cheat Alexa’s full brows, radiant skin and signature cat eye. Follow these simple steps to channel your inner Alexa all day everyday.

The award winning model is all about fresh, dewy skin. She prefers to use light layers and cream products to avoid that dreaded cakey look:

  • Apply a hydrating primer such as the Too Faced Hangover Primer £27.00, this will help to boost the skin’s radiance before foundation.

  • For foundation, use a light to medium coverage, with a natural dewy finish. We love Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua £34. For a cheaper option, try Maybelline Dream Cushion Liquid Foundation £13.99.

  • Follow up with a light layer of your preferred concealer in targeted areas, such as under the eyes, around the nose and on any imperfections. Tip: Use minimal product and a small eyeshadow buffing brush such as the Zoeva 227 Luxe Soft Definer Brush £8.99 to lightly buff the product where needed. Using this method will help to create the ultimate natural look.

  • Apply a bronzer of your choice to the perimeters of the face with a large fluffy brush and a soft natural cream blusher to the apples of the cheeks. Try The Body Shop Honey Bronze Bronzing powder and Stila convertible colour in Peony £16.

  • To finish off the face, apply a cream highlighter such as Benefit’s Watt’s Up £25.50 and blend with your finger or a beauty sponge Finally, powder the T-zone to set the makeup in place

  • Now that you have the perfect base, fill in your eyebrows, following your natural shape by drawing soft, hairlike strokes. Alexas brows are bold yet soft, so try using an eyebrow pencil such as Soap & Glory Archery Brow Pencil £8.50 to achieve this look. To add fullness and lock your brows into place, use a fibre based eyebrow gel to set your brows into place, such as Soap & Glory Archery Volu-Boost Brow Fibre Gel. This will help you to cheat thick brows.

  • Now for the pièce de résistance, the cat-eye. Smudge a neutral soft brown eyeshadow across the lid as a base for the eyeshadow. We recommend Mac Prolongwear Paint Pot in the shade Groundwork £16.50, as it stays on all day and doesn’t crease. Alexa likes to lightly define her crease by placing a darker brown shade in the socket of her eye.
  • Tip: if you don’t have a brown eyeshadow to hand, use your contour powder.

  • To complete the look, draw a classic 60’s inspired flick with your favorite liquid eyeliner pen. Tip: Look straight ahead into a mirror and draw a small dot where you would like your flick to end. Match these on both sides before you start so that your wings are even.

Finish the look off with your favorite nude lipstick and a slick of lip balm et voilat!
